Peterman's Eye
Wednesday, June 25, 2008, 10:56 AM - People, What I Like, Websites
My eternal love for all things Seinfeldian has led me once again into the world of J. Peterman. The character is a spoof of the real life J. Peterman; owner of the J. Peterman catalog. The company is based in Lexington, KY and has a cult following. In addition to the unique products, it is the witty romantic and often thought provoking item descriptions that set the catalog apart.

I will never forget Elaine struggling to write in the J. Peterman style. To get a glimpse into the mind of the real J. Peterman check out his blog at PetermansEye.com. He covers a wide variety of subjects and is building an army of opinionated commentators.

Facebook in 40 Years
Tuesday, June 17, 2008, 11:42 AM - Technology, Websites
We all love it, some more than others. Many spend hours a week writing on Walls and commenting on pictures. But when will you let it go? How long will Facebook be a part of your life. Into your 30's, 40's or 50's? Will our generation stay active on the social network scene?

It is something to ponder. Social networking is heavily ingrained in our lives. A couple of years ago I would have laughed at a forty-something getting a Facebook account, but now the question isn't why but why not. Facebook has graduated from college and entered the corporate world. Companies now see the value of allowing employees to use the application at work.

When interviewing recently my first stop was Google to research the company. Then a quick search for the hiring manager and other team members led me to LinkedIn, Facebook, and personal websites/blogs.

Robert Scoble believes that smart companies are beginning to gage the value of a potential new-hire based on their social network status. Crazy? Think about it. Besides your killer skill set and multiple degrees, who do you bring with you to the table? If you have 1000 people following you on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace (ug!) or 5000 uniques a month on your personal blog :) you are a valuable asset. By updating your Facebook profile alone you are endorsing their brand.

There is little argument that social networking is here to stay. Facebook alone doubles its user base every six months. The question remains, how will we as users change our habits as we age? Will knowing what group your ex-boyfriend's younger sister just joined seem at all relevant 15 years from now? Maybe, time will tell.

BMW GINA - Skin, WOW!
Thursday, June 12, 2008, 08:00 AM - Technology, Videos
This is an amazing concept and a great example of a company that devotes resources to innovation. It will be interesting to see if anything from the GINA Project trickles down into the consumer models.

Enjoy!

DuckTales - A History of Duckburg
Monday, June 9, 2008, 08:15 AM - Miscellaneous
"Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg. Racecars, lasers, airplanes its a duck world..."

Truly one of my favorite shows as a kid. I still catch an episode from time to time on YouTube. I found this page today: "The Lives and Times in Duckburg - Short List of Events"

It is amazingly detailed and old episode plots quickly came back to memory.
